Kultour is a national organisation committed to advancing cultural diversity in the arts in Australia.
Kultour is supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its art funding and advisory body.
Kultour was first established in 2001 by the Australia Council as an initiative of the Arts in a Multicultural Australia policy to increase awareness of Australian multicultural arts through the touring of performing and visual arts.
It operated for a couple of years as an informal network of organisations coordinating the touring of multicultural arts and was auspiced by Multicultural Arts Victoria (MAV).
In 2006 Kultour was registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee and transitioned from an informal network of organisations touring multicultural arts, to that of Kultour a company and legal entity in its own right.
In 2011 Kultour commenced another transition, from being a national touring organisation to a national peak body and service organisation advocating for greater representation and promotion of artists from culturally diverse backgrounds. The transition is expected to be complete by late 2013.
