Fotis was the Director of Multicultural Arts Victoria between 1992 and 2001; then founded Kape Communications Pty Ltd.

Kape Communications ran the national arts leadership program, Multicultural Arts Professional Development for the Australia Council for the Arts and hosted a range of international speakers such as, America’s leading audience diversity specialist, Donna Walker–Kuhne from NYC and Dr Richard Kurin from the Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C.

Kape runs the Bite the Big Apple! Arts Management Tour of New York City, a unique program introducing Australian arts managers to leaders in arts marketing and management in New York City. 

Fotis was the editor of Neos Kosmos English Edition, Australia’s oldest and largest Greek media outlet, with over 150,000 unique users per month. In 2011 he was invited to take on the role of Multicultural Media and Policy Adviser for the Premier of Victoria the Hon. Ted Baillieu.

After Fotis’ three years in the Premier’s Private Office, he returned to Kape Communications where he developed the architecture of Australia’s first cooperative arts marketing alliance, Arts West.

Fotis is now the Development Manager for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. He also teaches branding and marketing at third year contemporary music at the Victorian College for the Arts, Melbourne University. He is currently a PHD Candidate for Communications at the University of Canberra. 

Fotis Kapetopoulos secured a Short-Term Internship at the Smithsonian Institution Washington DC and an Asialink Arts Management residency at the National Arts Council of Singapore.  Fotis has a BA Hon. in Politics from Flinders University and a Masters in Marketing from Monash University.

Fotis published two key research reports on multicultural audiences for the Australia Council for the Arts; Who Goes There? Multicultural Case Studies in 2003 and Adjust Your View Multicultural Arts Marketing Toolkit, in 2009.

He writes regularly for Crikey Daily Review and for a range of publications such as, On-Line Opinion, Neos Kosmos and others. He has published fiction for ABCLittle Raven and Overland.
